I’m sure there’s probably a button that will automatically do this for me, but I just can’t find anything in 2.56 right now.
Basically, all I want to do is to set everything (menu positions, layouts, etc) back to the way it came in 2.56. I don’t have any user settings saved - I just have one project I’ve been working on in 2.49, and now when I open it in 2.56, it tries to keep the same menu positions as the old version. It just doesn’t work for me. Isn’t there a button that will reset the GUI without deleting the scene like the “Restore Factory State” option will do?
…Much appreciated. -Matt
When you open the blend file in 2.56 deselect the ‘Load UI’ button on the left side of the file browser.

…yep, there it is. I knew it was something simple I was skipping over somewhere. I always have my current project on the desktop beside my Blender shortcut… I never use Blender’s file browser that much. Maybe I should start paying attention…
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
You can also set this as a permanent setting for opening all files in the User Preferences.
