I can’t figure out what is wrong. I rigged the dog using Rigify. Generated the rig with no problems. Did some weight painting corrections and then started to make a simple walk-cycle test.
Concentrating on the legs and torso I thought everything was looking pretty good. I then noticed that the tongue mesh was being distorted (influenced) when I used any of the controllers near the head. The neck, chest, and head controllers seemed to distort the tongue.
I first checked to see if I had extra hidden vertices but they were fine.
I went back into weight paint to make sure no other bones had influence on the tongue mesh. That looked good also.
The next three look at the weight painting and show how the tongue controller also distorts the tongue mesh. ( The tongue is a separate object as are the upper teeth and lower teeth. the teeth are not affected this way,
Could use some help if you have any idea how I can troubleshoot this. Thanks
I know I get a lot of issues with the tongue from the jaw and the lips, and I sometimes miss clicking a bone to check the weights in weight paint mode. Clicking a couple different single verts in the affected area, I’ve found is a good way to double check.
Your normals are also all good?
No double verts? (unless that’s what you mean by hidden verts, and then sorry for the repeat advice)
You’ve checked that only the deform bones are set to deform? It should be the case, since this is rigify, but maybe there was a glitch?
D_De, you saved me! Thanks. It turns out there was influence from a breast bone. So far away from the tongue that it seems hard that it would get any influence at all.
Thanks so much. I did find it in Edit mode and saw the Breast Bone listed there.
Yes I meant that there were no overlapping vertices. And all the normals are correctly facing. Thanks again!!!
