can some one teach me how to model high poly characters and high poly maps.I’m tired of using logic bricks i want to learn how to make my character walk when i press a key like if i press w my character will move forward. Also this games is going to be an online game but i need to know how to make a script for online game and a login screen and log out i don’t know how to use multi player script i saw by izE_design.also can some one teach me how to make an blender file an exe. file. can some one help me make a full screen game
well do u have any exp. in game making or animation?
There are a lot of links in the file below. Just download it and a look through it. There is a great site for modeling characters by Mathis. But I think it is lower polys not high.
In the game engine you need low poly characters. But for rendering high polys are better.
You say high poly maps? I think you are talking about the textures maybe… So you need to learn to unwrap your model and save the unwrapped image to a .tga file. Then use that as a coloring book to paint your ghraphics/texture for the model.
you say you are tired of logic blocks and want to make your character walk forward when you press W? I dont understand that at all.
Thats what you use to make your character walk forward, unless you want to learn python and write some scripts?
Well you need to check out the threads here about using blender onlin. Sorry cannot help you there.
I think you will need to learn some programming skills if you do not know how to program.
I think you need to start at the start… and study, practice and study some more, practice and then come back and ask specific questions, about the problems you are confronted with.
It will take a couple months just to get use to blender and understand most of the user interface.
And then another couple months to start making your game.
We have all gone though the process, and some have move experience because they have come from othe modeling/gaming software to here.
Good luck.
well to be SPECIFIC i really just want to know how to program characters to walk when i press a key. IF BLENDER CAN’T MAKE HIGH POLY CHARACTERS THEN BLENDER SUCKS BALLS
You’re right, you should find an easier free game engine to use. High-poly characters and BGE don’t go well together. Even so, you can make them as high-poly as you want.
Blender can make whatever you want. If you can’t make it do what you want, it’s your fault, not Blender’s.
May I remind you gently that you’ve already been banned for a week due to extremely aggressive language and uncalled-for behavior. One more offense and you’re gone for good.
umm…yes. no. uhhh… I dont know?
dude, calm down. I’ve heared Ritalin is good…
Let’s take this slowly:
can some one teach me how to model high poly characters…
high poly (7,000+ polys imo) does not work so good in a game, for the more polys you have, the slower the game will be.
…and high poly maps.
poly means polygon and a texture map is an image, which uses no polygons that I know of. If you mean level, read /.
I’m tired of using logic bricks i want to learn how to make my character walk when i press a key like if i press w my character will move forward.
you have to use logic bricks in the blender game engine, even if you do use a python script. sorry(?)…
Also this games is going to be an online game but i need to know how to make a script for online game
you seem like you don’t have to much GE experience. Try a simpler, offline game first. Online scripting is complex stuff.
and a login screen and log out
once again, pretty complex stuff.
i don’t know how to use multi player script i saw by izE_design.
Please give a link to said file.
also can some one teach me how to make an blender file
ummm…file>save?
an exe. file.
file>save runtime.
can some one help me make a full screen game
Render Buttons>(Far right box)>game frame settings>full
that’s all, I suppose…
oops. missed this one. ummm…you use logic bricks. Keyboard (W)–AND–Movement(dLoc 0.00 0.01 0.00).
And yes, like plantperson said, you suck balls, not blender.
yeah, u sux not blender!
You guys realize once you start replying, he wont or he’ll just say, “Blender Sucks” again, or he’ll say your being mean. but anyways, High poly = Render Low poly = Game Engine. For animations, you probably use IPOs, or keyframes, whatever you wanna call it.
I was not implying that it was time to insult jkl325. I was warning him to clean up his act or face retribution. If you start it too, you’ll be in the same boat as he is. Jerks who insult stuff=not cool. People insulting jerks=also not cool.
High poly characters and maps don’t really work that well with pretty much any game engine, you can’t make them super detailed with micropoly displacement even on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
If you want the appearence of detail, then you can learn to code a good bump/normal/parrelax mapping with Blender’s GLSL.
And Logic bricks are needed even to run python scripts, just note that Logic bricks can be powerful.
If you want the Blender GE to be able to handle high numbers of polygons, then download the GE source code and work on coding it in.
The Red Hand made a site with some downloads that will help you. http://www.freewebs.com/warofmyas trust me. You can make anything walk w/ logic bricks.
