some ideals on modeling a horse?

hey guys,

im gonna try and molel a horse?!?!?!?!?!?!?

i was thinking of starting with the head and then working down ect.

would it be a good ideal to

add a mesh - plane
subdivided it once
delete on the left side
then add Modifier - Mirror

so i get a subdivided plane thats mirrored on one side?

would that be the best way of starting modeling the horse’s head?

or its there a better way???

  • have you got tips on modeling a horse or have you seen some tutorial. :o

oo and happy blending :stuck_out_tongue:

yes, that’s the best way. Leave the ears and eyes as a separate meshes. Use good reference pictures as backdrops.

hmm cool. how i do a backdrop

View menu>background image>use background image>load background image.

cheers lord of the rings nerd

im not a a big big fan of lord of the rings , but i love the films

i like that acter who played that elf bow man guy,^^ :o

My daughter has his poster on her wall, so you are in good company.

Papasmurf, just out of curiosity: I understand why one would make the eyes as separate meshes, but why the ears? wouldn’t one to want them to connect to the head, rather than just sit on it?

I understand that he is considered to be, how to say, rather attractive
I myself prefer the ladyfolk though, so I can’t really give an opinion…

This is an old horse tutorial-walkthrough:

@Oblivion: The way cats and horses can turn their ears, it is much easier to animate with an IPO rather than a shape key. And if you get detailed, ears can be so tricky and intricate, like human ears, it’s less frustrating to do them as a separate mini-project.

lolz well im a guy… , but i have punk rock bands on my wall ^^ ( green day , simple plan , sum 41 , family guy! , south park , ect )

Nice find!!! ,

i will start working on it some time today.

coz i was away for the weekend , walking up the welsh mountains. ( 30 miles ) :frowning:

hahah thanks all

Fix that point on the top and lengthen the ears.

the head top lower? and the ears higher?
