Some random questions

I’ve searched the forum but couldn’t find anything so,

  1. How can I use a bump map?

  2. How can I use a displacement map, or is it the same as a bump map?

  3. What is the rendering term ‘AO’ stand for and how can I use it?

  1. a bump map can be applied as an image texture. in the [map to] panel should be a button called [nor] in the material window. click this and the bump map should be applied.

  2. a displacement map actually changes the geometry of the object that it is applied to.

  3. AO stands for Ambient Occlusion. this is a world setting that can be found in the world buttons. this effect makes all objects cast a cone of light, depending on the settings. this can act like radiosity by allowing the lighting to be more globalized. this effect, however, may cause your images look grainy
