So, this is for a school project(I wont tell you what it means, I want to see if you can find it by yourself) and I can honestly say that I’m an embarrassment to the whole CG world for ever creating this… I would be thankful if anyone has any advise… Please be as harsh and to the point as possible, as long as you don’t ask for the .blend file or say “do something else” XD
Maybe you should use cycles…Then it looks a lot better…
I use cycles…
A classroom in a bottle? Or is it a on mars? And the fluid, is it within the bottle or underneath?
OK, so, it is a classroom in a bottle, and the fluid is outside, it represents kids that have left school(wasn’t my idea XD). So, they miss the knowledge and security of school and are left outside in the desert, or whatever…
As other’s have said, if you want realism then go for cycles. use normal maps, and put “layers” shaders on, not just one. make it clear (pun not intended ) what is outside and what is inside. I can’t really tell what’s what at the top right of the image. That’s all I have to say for now.
Personal opinion only, but I don’t think the edge mist is working for this composition, it just gives it an out of focus look. I would dump that and try to clear up the image.
FWIW my interpretation is a classroom in a bottle signifying that knowledge kept within the confines of academia is useless, it needs to move from the class to the real world.
I like the overall idea of the render. A couple ideas are:
- Rethink the composition of the image
- Try some atmospheric perspective (mist) or something to give it more an underwater feel.
I would agree with Ryeath - the blurred edges on the bottle aren’t really helping here.
Good effort - nothing to be embarressed about!
The the overall understandability of the image is hampered by a few issues in my opinion:
- the black stuff beneath the bottle looks like a shadow that has been incorrectly rendered. My first assumption was that something had been done wrong with the way the bottle material was set up. If it is meant to be liquid that has come out of the bottle, then perhaps it would make more sense to make it so that it looks like it has come from the hole in the top of the bottle.
- The material for the liquid, people will have a hard time telling what it is, it just looks like uniform black and like I said in previous comment I think it will be mistaken for a strange shadow (especially since it beneath the bottle, and nowhere near the hole in the top).
- Too much post processing at this stage. I understand the temptation to try to embellish an image, but sometimes it is not entirely appropriate, and sometimes it is used instead of really finishing a scene. I would tone it down for now, and if you do re-introduce it, then maybe go a little easier on the effects.
