So, I’m having an issue with the point light in my scene. It seems like it lights one half of the room, but leaves the other half in the dark with a sharp boundary between the light and dark areas. Moving the light doesn’t help, as the dark boundary moves with it. If I’m not mistaken, point lights are supposed to shine in all directions, but this one is confusing me. I tried to delete it and add another point light but it didn’t work. If anyone knows what’s causing this problem, I would be grateful for any help. Thank you. ![]()
We should try to narrow down the problem.
- Does this also happen in Cycles, or just in Eevee? That would help figure out if it’s something with the render settings, or if there is something wrong with the objects themselves.
- Is it only point lights? What happens if you change the light type to a spot or area?
- If you add a new mesh, is it affected by the problem, or only the room?
- Does the darkness disappear if you disable the shadows on that light? That would help to see if it’s caused by shadows or not.
- If it is related to shadows, try going in the render settings → performance → memory, and increase the shadow pool. Shadows can get weird in Eevee if they run out of memory.
Perhaps the normals?
I put a cube in the scene to check the normals, and it’s still doing the same thing on the cube. There is a Sun lamp in the scene but turning it off doesn’t fix the problem. I’m going to try and append the scene into another instance of blender and see if that fixes it. Cycles doesn’t seem to give me the same problem. Thank you for the replies, I’ll be back with the report. ![]()
It seems copying everything and putting it in another instance of blender worked. The problem is no longer there. Thank you everyone for the help, I really do appreciate it. ![]()
