Sound Effects?

Hey all:

My friends and I have been looking to do a star wars fan film for some time.

When I get good at Blender (which will have to wait till summer, since I’m a Senior and will be graduating soon…) we’ll use that for CG. (Actually I’m planning to use it also for the lightsaber effect.)

For sound effects, would I just load a sound effects library into something like Pinnacle Studio 8 or are there any open source tools I could make sound effects or what?

I hope to do a lot of stuff with graphics, web site desgin and video editing this summer.

Thanks, LC

Audacity is a great free sound editing program. Not really sure if that’s what your looking for though.

yeah, audacity would be great for recording your voice, but aren’t you going to need permission from george lucas or someone to make this film?

No…check out http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/.

I guess I’m not even sure where to start on sound editing…I’m just talking about effects I guess…I suppose I need to know what Audacity really is for; if I need to generate sound effects, or would I use sound FX libraries and simply use Blender’s Audio window…

I think you’d probably just load sounds from a sound effects library into your video editing program of choice. I think there are websites with “open” sound effects content. Try searching for public domain sounds or free sounds, etc. on google (or yahoo, or…;)).
