Sound in movies | update: new question

Could someone please tell me how to get sound to work in a rendered movie?

I have the sound working in blender itself but when I render the animation to a .wav file or whatever there’s no sound.

that is because blender doesn’t put sound in rendered movies (any format)

press the mixdown button in the sound buttons to make a single audio file and use most any video editior to combine your video and sound.

Wiggie:

Check if you are in the correct scene (the scene that contains the sequence) when you press the Mixdown button.

and use most any video editior to combine your video and sound.

Vitual Dub is a good, simple and free video editor, will work fine for attaching audio to your video. Windows only, unfortunately.

For UNIX, you can use mencoder for AVIs and mjpegtools (mplex) for MPEGs.

Thanx, i use Windows.

anyway, I have another question:

While I was trying to get the sound to work in a rendered movie I changed one of the settings and it somehow recorded the sounds instead of the images. I can’t figure out how to do it again, so does anyone know how this is done? I need it so I can combine the sound and the movie with Virtual Dub.

You can always go the audio tab in a buttons window and use the MixDown button to generate a .wav file for use with VirtualDub.
