specific problems during sculpting

hello to all, I’m currently working in a character, and the process of sculpting is taking very importance. During the process, I note that a couple of things could be improved.

1- when click “symmetrize” tool from dynotopo, the possibilitie to mirror only a certain part of the surface, not the entire half as works now. Maybe using masking or vertexex group?

2- Image, that you are working on the legs of one character, and you have active the simmetry tab on x, for to sculpting the same on both legs. But at the same time you are using the “hide bounding box”, just for to hide one of the two legs, and this way to work comfortably with the interior part. What happens is that then, simmetry isn’t been applied, even the button is active, which is not a desired thing.

thanks

The symmetrize option in edit mode will symmetrise only selected faces

For to be honest, I didn’t know about it. But, after test it, doesn’t convince me as a useful tool, because it does a duplication of selected mesh, without integrating it properly to the overall mesh.

For 2 you can use this: https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Mesh/Remirror
It will mirror the entire mesh though. Though you could probably edit the addon to only work on selected faces if you know python.
