Speed Painting

Hi B3D folks!
I’d like share my personal project.
I mixed Wankel Engine, Planetary Gear, Blender 3d, Cycles and Animation Nodes.
All in 30 seconds / 900 frames.

Precise speed animation was an issue. I was able animate rotation euler but not speed.
I found AnimationNodes helpful. I used objects location F-Curve as source to recalculate in AN.

I enjoy this animation.
Especially because you used AnimationNodes in it. Really beautiful mix of technical precision and style.
To understand your rig: you can change parameters however you want or do you need to follow a certain mechanical rule to achieve the result? Your sketches on the FCurves and the numbers look like there must be a correct math behind it.

Nevertheless… beautiful.

Thanks

  1. i need some object, empty, plane, whatever
  2. i animate location Y with keyframes so i get my FCurve - that will be my speed value
  3. i use animation nodes to evaluate that curve and to sum all speed values til certain frame, 1 execution per frame. At frame number 1204 i add all values from frame 0,1,2,3,4,5…,1204 and that is my euler_rotation for frame 1204.
  4. sorry, if that is not clear, my bad
  5. blend file may help, enjoy my mess

Thank You, Will.

Thanks, dude. :star_struck:

It’s been a pleasure (Barley’s voice)

…and motion blur test. Cycles vs Eevee (Blender 2.9). 10x faster :star_struck:
