okay so I’m about six hours in to animating a small minecraft video, and i only have twelve second done. at that speed i still have at least thirty hours left, and why those twelve seconds look good i was wondering if there are any tips or speed tricks that can be used to speed this up. all tips are appreciated.
Only if you are repeating poses, in which case you can copy and paste key frames in the Graph Editor. Alternatively you can read the manual pages on Pose Libraries - these may help you. If you are not repeating poses, I know of no short-cuts.
Cheers, Clock.
i was afraid of that, I’ll check out pose library’s. maybe it will be easier as i get more experience.
thanks Clock
Actually, watching grass grow takes less time. I tried to rush this process when I first started. You can’t. It’ll look crappy. Mine did. I got some good critique here which made me realize that this part of the film actually takes the longest. However, it is the most satisfying watching something you rigged actually work. So as the old saying goes, how long is a piece of string? If you look at animator island (http://www.animatorisland.com/how-fast-should-you-animate/), you will see that most of the big 3d shops go for 3 to 4 seconds of animation per week on a feature film. The 11 second club give you a month to try to do a short. Yep it takes awhile. I’m still trying.
Timing is important as well for smoother animations. Just like the beat in a song, you have to establish a rhythm. You have to determine how often you want to create keyframes. Are you going to do it every 5 frames, every 10 seconds and so on.
thanks for all the reply’s, i guess I’ll take my time and get it looking good. something cool i learned while looking into pose library’s is there is a option called ghost that allows yo to see where the armature is set to move. just enter in how many frames in front and back to go then it shows a traced picture of it.
thanks for the help:D
