Spent all day with VSE prob

ok this is soooo infuriating
ive spent the whole day trying to get a video to render after i cut out a small bit. however, i want the audio to play over the cut out section.
long story short of wat i did:
>>downlaod video off youtube>>opened blender and opened the video in the VSE>>cut out the video part that i didnt want and dragged the new video segments together to close the gap. The music was untouched>>rendered it h.264 with avi preset.>> Rendered all 6860 frames>> opened the video and GRRRRRRRR :mad: only the audio played!!!:confused:
the worst part? ive tried several things and like an idiot rendered out the whole thing like 4x! now im doing it in 100 frames chunks, but everytime i cant see any video!
thnx in advance:eyebrowlift:

Edit: While rendering i can see the video

Codec issues. You are watching the render process where Blender decompreses the source. Esentially you have asked Blender to make a faulty video clip. Have you tried the presets in the scene/render panel? What settings did you use to encode the output and mux together with audio?

Which software player did you use to playback the rendered video?
Have you tried using VLC?
First make sure that you don’t have an actual problem with the video you rendered and then start working backwards to see what went wrong. Blender will allow (almost) any combo of container format & video and audio codec. But that doesn’t mean that the rendered video will be playable. Start with presets as 3point suggested they should work out of the box.

Finally, youtube videos use variable framerates so make sure that Sync Mode is set to AVSYNC on the timeline window before cutting anything. Remember that the length of the audio strip should always match exactly the length of the video strip.

aw thanks i got it to work using a different preset so thanks!!
