anyone has seen some spherical spin tool ?
that would be cool to complement the spin tool !
make a script for that may be !
thanks

never seen one like that before that is why I ask !
but would be an interesting new tool

Hi RickyBlender.
Could you explain better what you are looking to do? Any examples or explanation about for what it would be useful?
Use normal spin twice to make spherical!
let say I use Earth as a sphere !
then you make a pattern on the equator and do a spin on the sphere from the equator up to the pole
so need to extrude and re scale to fit function of the latitude !
pattern could be all around the sphere or not !
doing it manually is possible but tedious !
and don’t think it can be done with spin X 2!

Are you referring to a subdivided plane bending!
no can be any flat pattern to follow sphere
from equator to top pole as shown in picture
I can do it manually but difficult to have precision
and tedious
thanks
happy bl
about like that yes
but is it possible with any type of pattern ?
can you explain how to get it smoothly
thanks

I believe you’ll be able to figure it out for yourself once you start tinkering with the .blend file.
using modifier is a nice way to do it for a symmetrical pattern
but I was wondering about a more asymmetrical shape like a sea shell shape
I do have a script to do a sea shell like in picture
but ridges are not very deformed !
see image here
I know it is not really spherical but might be deformable with a lattice
did test with seashell and it can almost deform like the lamp shade
thanks

the last one seems to look more like the real lamp shade
I made one but was not really flat in the back
can you explain how you did it
thanks

Just make a UV sphere with 48 Segments and 24 Rings. And use the lattice modifier for everything else, you also have to change the triangle mesh on the poles to polys to have a better mesh. I’ll provide you with a .blendfile.
