Spider Leg Extrusion. How to avoid or remove poles.

I just need someone to point me in the right direction. I realize good edge-flow and topology are important if you want to rig/deform mesh in animation. How would I go about extruding the spiders legs with out creating a 5 edge pole? Thanks for your time.

Excuse my ignorance if this post is misplaced. It is after all a Work in progress.

Think about this logically. If you extrude a face from the center of a three by three grid, the bottom vertices will always be 5 edge poles. There isn’t really a way to avoid this.

Ok Thanks @therealnoz

Then my next inquiry would be: (A) Can I still rig/deform mesh properly in such a case?
(B) If not, then how does one extrude say a leg, without creating a pole such as this.
