The spin tool via the gizmo in the t-panel shows exactly the axis and the handles where to spin and you always can re-parameter via the last edit menue… the old one was vjkbhdfjkhgk hn
I’ve gotten good, accurate results from it, but agree that its ease-of-use could be improved. I think the main trick is properly manipulating the 3d Cursor. I’ve used an empty to set the snap-to position for it. I’ve also used a subdivided edge to pick an exact point. From there it’s trial & error to find the exact location, afterward making use of the operations options pop-up to refine the curve.
I haven’t used it as a lathe. For that I prefer the Screw Modifier. I’ve mainly used it to add curved sections to pipes.
This is a good how-to:
that’s the point…
every time I move the main axis and move the blue (+), it creates another duplicates revolution
this is retarded af, that’s not what I want at all
watch a video ? alright, then I use that tool every two centuries or something, then I have to find another video to watch, cos it is NOT INTUITIVE AT ALL
?? Every single usage of the gizmo is another operation… like with any other tool…?
So you have to use undo ? …or switch to anothe tool in between like extrude for exampl ??
I might don’t understand your workflow !?
