What do you think about that squirrel?
whoa! That guy looks great! The nose doesnt look fantastic,(in fact, the fur less parts dont look great), but the fur looks amazing
double thumbs up!
Drew
That squirrel has a lot of personality!
I’d like to see the front arms in a different position, right now they get lost in the fur. And the feet don’t look right, I think they need 4 toes to match the hands (also, the three toes make the feet look avian or reptilian).
The fur looks great, by the way.
What are you going to use the character for?
Thanks. It’s still a WIP. It has no texturs and the head-fur looks not very good yet:)
I want to make a short animation with it. The squirrel should be the main char
his/her rear legs are a bit too bird like I think. But I like the rest especially the tail
cheers
LOL…nice one the fur is great…can you just fix the legs cuz it looks half bird with those legs…ill be watching this thread.good luck!
Edit:the guy above me beat me to the bird comment…grrrrrrrrrr…
awesome fur! whats the particle count and rendertime?
Ditto the comments on the feet. Fur looks great. Here’s some references
Looks like four claws in the front, five in the back. Of course, for a cartoon, three and three would do fine. You’ll also notice the real squirrel’s eyes are on the sides – good peripheral vision to watch out for predators, which have their eyes facing front, like ours.
i hate squirrells…lol good one though
Okay I will make new legs.^^
Framedworld: The particle count is 60000 and I rendered 6min for that image.
LOL, the fur looks ausome. The feet have already been covered, so i will leave those alone, but i would make the eyes shiny. They may be already, but just have nothing to reflect i dunno, but they look plastic, not organic and wet at the moment. I also presume you are intening this to be a stylised and cartoonish character, but if not then the eyes need to be on the sides of the head, and no white to them.
look forard 2 updates. can’t get enough of that fur

All of the people who posted here already pointed out what doesn’t look great but i think that you could just try to make the eyes pitch black, i think that would give it a more of a “cute” feeling to it. Just for trying it out.
I kinda like the forward facing eyes with eye whites for the cartoonish, human-like feel… anthropomorphisms, and all that jazz. But you could grow/shrink the eye pupil to affect the cuteness factor. It would look great to animate the pupils growing as the squirrel tries to look more cute.
Okay I started making a tree(I forgot to remove the wire ^^) for the unfinished^^ squirrel .
What do you think about it?
Simply beutiful. Id make the roots bigger though…But thats my own personal taste.
Update:
Looks great so far, the squirrel looks really cool with the fur.
A couple of questions:
- How did you get multiple lenghts of fur on the tail and on the body? Are they two different objects?
- How did you texture the tree? It looks really good… I tried a simple procedual on my current WIP but it turned out all distorted.
1.Yes,I used two different meshes^^
2 It was very easy. I only used the clone stamp tool^^. Thats all. I took a photo of tree-bark and clone it very often.
So is it a UV map?
OH. I’m sry. I forgot to mention that. Yes, of course, it is a Uv unwrapp^^
Update: What do you thin about leaves?
