[SSS Research] Old Biker

Hi everyone, what’s new ?

Here is my final render for my Old Biker project, the modeling is not mine, i’ve just retopoly the head in Zbrush -the base obj has been create by Eat 3D for the DVD covering the creation of a realistic head in Maya- to create a better and lighter scene and mesh, for this project, the first goal is « create a realistic SSS by myself », is not a easy exercise and i’ve make a lot of mistake but after 3 weeks of research-Wikipedia helps me a lot-, i think i’ve find the good settings, is not perfect, i know but the « key » of SSS is here,Hypodermal, Epidermal, Dermal, Backscatter, Second Epidermal,Specular Large, Specular Small, 4 Layer Separate, that’s all thematerial i use, you can find all the capture of my settings belowthis text.

For the hair, i’ve use the internal render, it was be a very complex part of the creation, i’ve in mind a idea of what i want and Blender make the rest, for me, the artist isthe master of the tools and the tools follow the order of the artist,that’s all, you can find my settings bellow.

For the eyes, i’ve follow the CG Cookie series for create the material but i’ve use Zbrush for the texture ofthe eyes, i prefer to see directly the result, i know they doesn’t looks fucking real but the jobs is done.

For the clothes, is just the basic cloth included in the DVD i’ve mentionned, i’ve just create a basic material without UV or texture, you can find the settings below.

All the renders has been make with a i73770K OC @ 4,2 Ghz with 16 Go of RAM G.Skill, i use 4 scene for create 4 renders and make the compositing more easier, just the head take 55 minutes, the hairs = 1 minutes, the eyes = 3 minutes-refraction take a lot of ressources so i’ve decided to separate them to the head- and the cloth take 2 minutes -small specular-, bellowyou can find the render and Compositing settings, not very complex but all the compositing has been done in Blender, no Gimp or Photoshop, i prefer to use 2D Software for the texturing part.

I hope you like this render, is not perfect but i’m here for learn.
