Stupid Space Scene,

just wanted to make a decent sun, ended up with whole setup.

Guess how Main planet and main moon were made

Of course:

P.S. Mmmā€¦ must blend a 64 x 64 pixel quality tag 8)

looks nice but whats that weird dome thing on the planet? Is really the only thing thats not cool.
Looks like it was made with that blender script (whats it called argg)

Awā€¦I thought SubSurface Scattering had suddenly been implemented into Blender or Yafray or something

Looks good, man. I really dig the texture on the planet\asteriod thingy closest to the camera.

dante

oh cool

funny scene

it almost has a ā€œpaintedā€ look to it, excellent!!

Stefano, I really like what youā€™ve done here. Iā€™ve sort of been in a space scene mode (or rut) for the past few weeks all the way into this weekendā€™s challenge (beach theme), but nothing nearly at all as good as yours:

(bottom on that page)
Your terrain came out really nice, and I like the sun and flaring starlight.
One thing I was experimenting with was using fractal subdivided grids with halo on for stars instead of Blenderā€™s built in stars, basically to have more control over star colors, placement, and so on. Iā€™m still experimenting with planet textures and havenā€™t really touched a terrain scene like yours until this past weekendā€™s challenge. I still feel like I have so much to learn after seeing finished projects posted here, although it is inspiring at the same time.
BTW, is that your F1 parked outside the dome? At my monitor res I canā€™t tell. Whatever it is it looks cool. Those extra details can add so much character to a picture.

Robert

Thanx

A scientific station  it is not script made, but you are right, too featurelessā€¦ needs some textures.

Nope, but those materials are in Tuhopuu Blinn shader

Yup

That might come from the 0.55 Gaussian blur added after rendering

Very nice pictures yours, like the colouring much

I usually use Blender stars + a fract subd plane for brighter stars.
In this image there are two such planes, one for the group bottom right
and one for all the other.

Actually I have also a unfinished script hanging on my HD which places vertices in random places at random distances to make even better stars. But since current API is so ackward in assigning materials I never finished it. I have used it in my ā€˜The Ringā€™ movie, but not for stars, for the planetary ring

No, it is a moon-bugā€¦ 6 wheels, yes, but on three axis, and pressurized. Actually it is 10 minutes of modelling, since it was not going to be seen in a close up

Stefano

a bit dark, but then again, I dont know, perhaps it is dark thereā€¦ Iā€™m no spaceman.

looks like old science posterā€¦

hmm, space is a big place. maybe I would have shown a little more of thatā€¦ emptinessā€¦

Cool scene. I like it. Not sure about the lighting on the moon buggy but other than that an excellent scene. Good to see you playing with your script more to make more pictures.
Paradox

That really looks cool man, someone else said it had a painted feel and i think so as well, very nice look.
How did you acheive that kind of look, its great!!!

Matt

Blend on, and blend well!!!

Nice! It remembers me of those tipical carl sagan book illustrations. Were you inspired by that?

good job

The looks of space background are very good

sorry S68 now iā€™m not trying to be a dick head or anything.

but i donā€™t really feel that this scene is anything fantastic. sure tis good, but i have seen some of your other work and this doesnā€™t seem to compare.
