How does one get objects in blender to have shadows that will effect other objects?

StingSlang,

What is most overlooked, is that the material of the object that is to receive the shadow must have “TraShad” turned on in the shaders panel.

Best of Luck!!

That doesnt seem to be working. I have a ball on top of a plane with a light overhead. I can’t get the ball to make a shadow on the plane.

Is the light in such a possition that it would actually cast a shadow?

Also make sure that RAY is turned on.

StingSlang,

Make sure that:

RayShadow is on in the Shadow and Spot panel for the light
Ray is turned on in the render panel

Best of Luck!!
