We are happy to showcase our game Stained on blender artist. Stained is built on Ogre3d (graphics) and Bullet (physics) library and Blender is used as a modeling and level editing tool for stained.
Stained game play is unique and it was bit of challenge for us to build something like this, however Blender, Ogre3d and bullet made this possible for us in very short duration. Blender is at a core of our gaming pipeline and has been used extensively for rapid prototyping of a levels, content creation and animation. Very soon we are going to launch a making of video which will feature blender as our level editor.
Stained Description:
Side-scrolling platforming and combat action in an ancient, mysterious castle featuring detailed 3D environments with a continually changing game world. Events are triggered by breaking windows, and outcomes are determined by the combination of glass pieces that litter the ground, and the variety of enemies that they assemble into. Solve puzzles by thinking of novel ways to break windows. Victory is usually temporary, as defeated foes can form again, or form entirely new ones. Place yourself at the mercy of the castle, or discover its secrets and attempt to bend its will to your whim.
very very nice work! I do suggest however that you make the stained glass enemies look a bit more like glass at first i thought they were just supposed to look like 2d cartoons. Also - just because it’s glass doesn’t mean it has to be flat.
There are variety of monsters we have in the game, though some of them look flat some other are complete 3d monsters. In the initial phase of the game player mostly face these small monsters who are easy to shatter, later on more sophisticated looking glassy creatures hinders your way through the castle.
The hammerfist guy (the who jumps in air and attack) looks too much like a cartoon, that was our very first prototype for glass monsters, I am thinking to discard him.
I really welcome comments and suggestions from all the artist here!
I don’t know how to link the images to high resolution images the images tag does not seems to have a link option. But here is our gallery link : http://www.stained-thegame.com/gallery
