Stainless Steel metal effect

Hi all.
My first post.
As a learning project. I am trying to make up a lift (elevator) landing station just so I can apply some of what I have learnt. The company I work for makes these up so I thought I might as well give it a go to model one.

At the moment I am trying to get a brushed stainless steel effect. I have done a search and most of what comes up is not really what I am looking for.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks
Nick

This one ain’t good? http://3dnoob.com/tutorials/brushed-metal-textures-blender you can adjust it a bit.
There are lots of materials here too: http://matrep.parastudios.de/index.php . Search for brushed steel or brushed metal.

That first link to 3dnoobs is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! :yes:
I did originally just do a forum search, hence not turning up much. :eek:

As an aside. I am guessing I need something opposite it (out of view of the camera) to create something for it to reflect. Do I just create a plane and apply a picture of… something to it?

Thanks
Nick

<double post oops!>

Indeed you need something to be reflected. You can do like in this tutorial at about 3:30 minutes:

or you can use a HDRI image, as in this tutorial

That depends on the effect you want.
