Hey!
I’m trying to recreate my own version of the the hologram you see in Star Wars the Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 7-8.
It’s the cube hologram of Obi-wan Kenobi.
I want to know how to get the cubes going from the bottom of the character (swirling around in a circle) and then fly up to form the characters shape.
Does anyone have any idea of how to do that??
Here’s what I have so far.
This is what I want it to look like once the particles have formed the shape of the character
Here is an update on the hologram animation.
I’ve still got to figure out how to from them into a character though.
Is there maybe a way to make the character the emitter of the particles, and after the hologram animation, turn gravity on and have them fall to the floor plane? Then you could maybe time remap the animation to go in reverse? Not sure, just trying to brainstorm this one.
That’s awesome,what’s the node setup?
You can try using magnet in the force field options though i am not sure if there is a way to turn it on a and off for different keyframes.
@jblender I’ll definitely check that out thanks!
@DCBloodHound I’ve just got 2 fog glare nodes set up for compositing. I’ll keep trying with the magnet fields thanks
Finally found my reference
And here is the animation of the sphere rotating around the character
maybe put cube dupliverts on your character, then add explode modifier?
Fascinating.
Not sure if it would help - as it seems there is no recent news of activity and it doesn’t appear to work with newer Blender versions - but I wonder if this add on would help?
I’m back!
My hard drive just stuffed up, so I lost all my files for this project. Started it all again and now here is what I have so far
OpenGL Render
Great! If you’re creating the cube effect on the character, I’ve actually tried it before. Just add a hair system with cubes as a reference mesh, but make sure the rotation is not localized.
Thanks! I’ve got the cubes from the holo projector thingy heading towards the character and disappearing once they hit the character. The character has a hair particle system and I set that to start revealing the cubes over a period of time, when the holo projector cubes hit the character. Hope that makes sense. A lot more tweaking to do ![]()
I’ll see if it works better with another character.
