StarGate Blender3D Game (WIP)

Hi everyone.
This is my first post here at this forum so i decided to start right away with my WIP Stargate game ive just started working on again.

The idea came to me a while ago to send in a story to MGM for a game since there wasnt one. By the time i started thinking of a script one was already on the way (The Alliance) so i decided to make one for myself just messing around one day…
Well, The Alliance has been canciled and so i decided to dig up my old thing and continue with it.

The demo can be downloaded from -http://www.savefile.com/files/2456122

Let me know what you all think… there are a few glitches with the p-90 reloading - not shooting straight and gate travel is stuffed at the moment. Everything is slowly coming along though…

AD-Edge

This is great! Stargate was actually what prompted me to get into Blender. Its good to see someone working on a game like this. You have a great start and I cant wait to see some more of it. It gliched a lot for me but im not sure why. The movements were a little jerky too. I like the gate and gate room a lot. I wasnt expecting to see it so detailed at this point. The textures on the utility boxes were a pleasant surprise. I know you werent posting to ask for help but if you would like any at all, I am willing to help. In time, this could really be something. Great work and keep it up.

I’m working on a high-poly Stargate model right now, maybe I could contribute! I’m not at home right now, so I can’t download it (already tried, the site is blocked here), but I can say that I do have a nice work in progress of a detailed gate.

Would you please offer a zip version of the file?

Ditto, cause I can’t open Rars. I was torn when the canceled the ALliance game, but now they are making a MMORPG. Im really rooting for you man, cause I obviously loove Stargate:D

Ok, thanks everyone.

And yes, Tynach, I saw your gate a few days ago. Very impressive. Mine is probubly a bit too high poly for a game but im working on it.

The game may run slow on some computers. I havent quite got the hang of texturing and modeling efficiantly but im getting there!

I look forward to even more responses.
Ive uploaded the zip.
It can be found at:

Enjoy:)

I finaly found the gateroom (hard to find because of insufficient lighting) and I looked at the gate. It’s very well modelled, similar to mine, but you forgot to have the chevrons show on the back as well. I havn’t fixed this myself, but the larger light part of the chevrons are a bit at an angle… Don’t really know how to explain it… You should look at the pictures by the lightwave guy, here.

Looks good so far, but the game crashes after I go through the gate. :frowning:

Same here… crashes. But I think it’s supposed to, as I think he hasn’t made another side yet.

Well, i havent a problem with lighting. It all works fine on my computer. But it does crash once you go through the gate!!!
And yes, i see what your saying Tynach, the chevrons are ment to be on the other side as well.

By insuficient lighting, I mean that there are totally black areas on the halls… The gateroom is well-lit. You just need to add more light in the halls.

Are you going to post a .blend?

I have begun on a planet on the other side of the gate… it just glitches when loading it!!!

Well, you could load a .blend, and we could play the game through Blender. Does it work in Blender?

Yes, it does work through blender and i will post a .blend as soon as i get some of the glitches out… nearly done…:o

Cool! Can’t wait. Just watched a Stargate episode… Weird.

hi its me, the guy from blender games forum well i think your going very well but as i already tould you, you should post the blend file so that it gets easyer to play with, anyway very well done

just a sugestion, make some sensor in the DHD on the planet so that we can travel back to the SGC room, because the version you gave me you couldn’t do it

I still havn’t seen a working version…

Wow, this thing is WAY too sensitive to my mouse movements, I can’t get through the first hallways. Movement is very jerky.

it’s you graphics card. It works smoothly on my computer… It’s a bit high-poly.
