Starship Model

I’m sure a lot of people have modeled something like this before, and it has turned out better, but I just like Star Trek so much I wanted to have some fun.

This isn’t supposed to be an exact replica. I didn’t use any pictures, just memory to model it. The thing I am most proud of is that the body of the model is one solid mesh. The saucer, the neck, the bottom, the engines, and the engine supports are all modeled from the same object. A year ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do that.

Still have to do all the texturing, fine touch work and stuff.

Took me 4 hours.
1792 faces.

Looks like a kids toy (that’s not a bad thing by the way). Much better than I would have done that’s for sure.

As I said, it hasn’t been textured yet. Plus I have a lot of minor detail work to still model yet. This is only the first few hours of work.

It’s a good start. It looks like you used subsurf which is good for making it look nice, but it has a way of removing some of the fine edges that make up the detail of a machine like this. If I were to change anything I would give the connecting point between the nacelle and the nacelle strut a much more defined angle and add sharp edges to the other places where the ship would be welded together.
