Starship Project 50% complete

hey all its me again im working on my first 3D model ever, heres what i got so far, its part of a Constitution class StarTrek ship, it is not a replica as i am/ and will be making some drastic changes.

any tips/pointers would be great, keep in mind this is only my first week with any 3D program ever and any points you off must also have DETAILED step by step instuctions on how i might add/ or make the corrections.

for now no tips on textures/lighting that will needed for the final stages

looking good so far. Can you post any reference you’re using?

This should be moved to Works in Progress.

instead of posting a screenshot, it would be better if you take the time to save the render file via F3 and then upload that image. Thanks.

Looks good. Reminds me of a plastic model set of the enterprise somebody got me -for some reason- as a birthday present ages ago. What are your reasons for modifying the proportions? Is it because this is going to be used in some sort of parody or something or just because you can’t be bothered to spend ages it getting it dead accurate?

nope, 2 reasons 1: this is my first model ever and i dont know how to get everything the way i want/need it. and 2: this is BASED on a con. class ship and in no way is going to be a replica, it reminds you of the enterprise model because likely you had the NC-1702 original ship which in fact is a constitution class ship  good call

heres the latest pictures feedback welcome!!!

Can anyone tell me how to find a texture tutorial  i am a NOOOB i have no idea what to do. So if you can give me some pointers on basic stuff on even where to find texture buttons and how to apply them i would VERY much like it!

ok guys i hope you enjoy it

/updated back to top

oh comeon guys i need some help… what the heck do i do with textures? i want it to look good but dont even know where to start, also i tried the Yafray render thing and blender didnt render anything so i then downloaded the Yafray program (or so i thought) but doesnt seem to have anything to run? was it a plugin?

If you don’t know where to start, we can’t help you.

You have to know what you want and…

before trying do UV-texture or texture any other way, an specific model wishing for specific results, you have to practice to learn how it works.

ok fair enough, lets start very basic… where would i find information on how to apply textures to meshes, and information on how to use images to create textures and colors on a ship?

all you need to start is in the tutorials section…
uv mappin, bump mappin, modellin etc…

also i think the thing you are meaning is called vector blur…
if you have ever used photoshop, its like motion blur, but for 3d apps/movies (some differences in the way it calculates it etc…)
but for what you need to know, its the same…it creates a blur to create the effect of movement!

hope this helps and last thing, try clicking on “search” and look for specific things,
you might find a similar topic with the same problem!

cya:)
