"Starturrent" Mini-Game W.I.P

Check this out, It’s a Turrent shoot’em up style type of game kind of like the Arcade Asteroids,Missile command, but in 3D .
So far all i have is the Turrent which is working fine, asteroids(at the moment i’m trying to figure out how to make them split into more when shot). and i also have one ufo , have to figure out how to put some
AI on it. but i’m not using any scrypts cause I don’t know any Python.
What do you guys think?

Perhaps you could duplicate an asteroid in a hidden layer then split it into pieces. When you blow up your asteroid you introduce all the pieces flying in different directions.(Like I did with my spaceships in Wormhole Crusader) Before each piece disappears make it introduce a new asteroid, or some of them depending how many you want.

Cool, I’ve just found out the new game engine has fustrum culling!!
at first i thought it was all buggy cause it wasn’t displaying my
game correctly, then i started tweeking the camera clipping and it
works fine now.

i added a crosshair circle thingy to help on aimming it turns red when a target is in range, put a halo on the bullet object, also the asteroids explode and split in two when shot,plus if the asteroids hit the turrent you loose shield points( though i 'm trying to figure out how to make it into a graph type shield score thing).

by the way I’ve tried the suspend and resume actuators
the suspend works fine,but when i tried the resume actuator it doesn’t work???(2.33 & 2.34)

How could the scene resume itself when it is paused? You have to use another scene(like an overlay scene) to do the pausing and resuming.

what if i wanna continue in the same scene where I left off?
is it possible ???(and I can’t write a python scrypt,I’m not good at that at all)

You misunderstood, example:

You have ‘scene1’, you make another ‘scene2’.
In ‘scene2’ you add the actuators to pause and resume ‘scene1’.
You use the scene actuator in ‘scene1’ to add ‘scene2’ as an overlay scene.
Now you can pause and resume ‘scene1’ using ‘scene2’.

Hope that clears it up.

Woohoo. My UFO has some AI (all done with IPOs and bricks) it can shoot at the turrent,and the asteroids. Also added an animation for when the shield gets hit by asteroids or UFO bullets( that greenish alpha texture on the screenshot looks better in real life it’s just the tool i got for taking scrennshots bites).the file so far is 1.5 mb :-? and theres only one level
right now :frowning: and haven’t added any music yet :< oh well will see what happens…

Thanks R2blend, I’m still thinking of puting all the textures in one picture
to see if i can save me some space i think that’s what’s taking the most memory, got to go do some photoshoping though.

Friedbrain. I assume you used tga fonts with alpha to got the numbers to appear on the screen like that over the other objects? Is that correct.?

yes SHABA1 it’s a tga. font file with the alpha and text button enabled in conjunction with the Logic bricks. here’s an example of what i used for the shield display:;
