Stepping Backward Through Multiple Undo Levels

Is there a menu available to step back through multiple undo levels? I am in the compositor and trying to undo about 50 steps, but each time, it recomposites the image and I have to wait for it.

Is there an undo layer explorer that I can skip to the last version I want?

If not, is there a way to suggest this to the devs? Or suggest that the compositor would benefit from a .5 second delay when someone presses ctrl-z before automatically recompositing?
