Sticky co-ordinates die in sub-surf

I’m trying to do polygonal hair and apply a texture before I deform the mesh. Now I can do this by sticky co-ordinates or UV. I want to use sticky co-ordinates because they seem more flexible for what I am doing (and take half the time to apply), but I’ve hit the problem that they are lost when you sub-surface an object. Is this a known problem that can’t be solved or a bug? Is there a way of getting round this?

Alex

You can UV map the texture which works with subsurf.

I know, I just have already used sticky for a whole head of hair and am at loathe to redo the whole thing again, oh well…

You may want to look at this thread. There is a short script by theeth that might be what you need.
