Whoa, that’s pretty good… That must be a BGE render, right? I mean, it’s in the Game Engine section…
It started life as a BGE model, but I intend to use it for other things, and have been steadily adding detail to it.
The poly count is now over 1,300,000 which is a bit high for this game engine. Mainly on the ropes, rivits, bolts and chains.
So, like people use gimp to help them out, I use Virtual Sailor. I can quickly check on mapping, normals, etc.
When ive finished using it for the other stuff, I will look at bakeing normal maps etc and get the poly count back down.
Here are a couple of more shots.
A normal render,
and as usual,
one from the other side.
ps, and its nice to see it in the water every now and again.
pps, now to get the torpedos working, and loose the puffa jackets.
Are the wakes the boats are making real time or did u add them later. If there realtime, id love to know how u did it
Yes its real time, its a simulator called Virtual Sailor, which I use. Even the demo version allows you to add your own models, so the the wakes are part of the program. I have done similar stuff using blenders game engine in the past, but I dont have the time at the moment to produce a full game.
Here is a high res version with a bit of post pro.
Thanks, and that’s actually amazingly intense detail, keep it up
