Photoshop Adjustment

Apple Alone

Mmm(Me drooling…). :o Red, crunchy apple…

This looks really great. The Povray and photoshop adjustment did amazing things on the glass. Did I mention that the apple looks really tasty? I love your use of textures and great material settings. The refraction on the glass is really good.

Amazing.:oWhat tools did u use in photoshop to get your glass looking so real?

Thanks for the comments. Sorry for my delayed reply, my internet service at home is down currently.

For the Photoshop Adjustment I used, Auto Levels, Auto Color, and Auto Contrast.

Photoshop Adjustments

WOW :o :o :o
I agree, the apple seems very VERY tasty. YUM

by the way, how much did it take to render? And on what system?

lusque,

Thanks for the reply.

EDIT The initial renders were done with PovRay 3.5 on a Dell system, running Windows 2000, with 512 MB DDR and an Intell Xeon 1.7 GHZ processor.

The HDRI images were rendered on the same machine in MlPov a patched version of PovRay 3.5 that is capable of producing HDRI images.

The first image, in the first post took 32 mins to render.

EDIT The first image in the HDRI post took 13 mins 28 secs to render.

The second image in the HDRI post took 40 mins to render, because of the area light I added, plus I adjusted the radiosity settings.

A general note regarding PovRay, whenever you render ‘realistic’ glass (reflection and refraction) the render times increase.

Otherwise the HDRI images render fairly quickly (without additional lighting).

I’m a true novice, with it, so I have a lot to learn. I was just hapy to get an acceptable render to post.

By the way I think My apple in the second HDRI image is too shiny!

 Really good. But the apple is starting to obtain an unearthly glow. imho  Maybe the specular settings (or equivalent in PovRay) should be lowered. I liked the specular settings for the earlier apple.

OMG. Just went to the PovRay site. :o :o
Wings3D + Blender + PovRay = Winning Combo

Hey ec2, that looks great! where did you learn texturing in pov? I could never do it :frowning:

I agree regarding the apple. I will re-render at work tomorrow to see if I can improve it.

I also agree about the combo of the three applications. Very Powerful when used together.

Cativo,

Thanks for the reply.

The apple texture was created in Photoshop, and UV Mapped with the methods I explained here. I’m sure I could have done it in Wings 3D, but I haven’t learned how to do it just yet.

I then exported to PovRay using jms’s Povanim script.

The glass finishes and textures were done in PovRay. I learned by going through help files and visisting PovRay.org’s forums and a few other sites.

Just to point out the last povanim version to export focalblur and dof:

Hey ec, I could not get the obj exporter to work, maybe you could help? I get an error msg saying there’s no module named Blender210 in line 107…I have python 2.0, do I need a newer version? Thanks!

Cativo,

Are you running Blender 2.23? If not you nede to use if for obj exporter to work.

Hey that worked! Thanks ec! I’ll try your tut, hope I can do something as good as yours!

the glass on the second image you posted seem more real, so does the apple on the first you posted. very good
