I have a good graphics card GTX 260, but I still get some noise when I do passes up to one thousand, I get little dots in my glass goblet, I can not get to get rid of them. Is it the glass that is causing that, my plane for the floor does not have noise only on the glass?
Glass surfaces (as perfect mirrors and maybe some other) are special, they cannot be measured using direct light feature, (you can not find exact point on surface that reflect point light for example, in general case) and always have very low probability to be hit by ray. So, it expected. You can get much faster noise clean in some scene setups with bi-directional integrator, but not in every case. Best known (biased) renderer for such cases is photon GI, as for example Yafaray. They are “cheating” and interpolate between photon splashes even in glass surfaces.
in general case) and always have very low probability to be hit by ray.
In that case it is better to have large ray emitter right, so that you get lots of fill from more directions?
I did a glass with larger planes and got a better render…thanks
