STIXEL
A generative art project made in Blender by Vessel Studio.
STIXEL artworks are created using C.G.I., starting from personal photos or images.
The final effect recreates a physical mosaic made of modular sticks, arranged and colored to simulate the look of a pixel.

From a distance, the image is sharp and recognizable. Up close, it transforms into a texture of colorful wooden sticks.
Add two images here. Change ‘data-direction-horizontal’ to ‘data-direction-vertical’ for a vertical slider.
Technical Workflow
Blender Geometry Nodes – used to generate the modular grid: triangles, squares, or hexagons, variable in scale and layout.
Custom Shader – designed to simulate the look of colored, oriented wood with a realistic physical feel.
The system is fully parametric and customizable to best suit any image.
Renderings made with Cycles.
