STL Mesh question


I have a question regarding an STL file that I imported into Blender. The topology of the object is very sharp when it comes to cylindrical parts. Is there a way I can efficiently edit the mesh without deleting / modifying each individual vertices? If not, is this a common problem of STL files when imported?

STL files are triangles and heavy.
Adding an edge rounding is possible but will require a lot of manual modeling work.
