Stormy afternoon

Hi,

Long time without posting, so here is a new image.
I tried to get a stormy atmosphere contrasting between a quiet place and an upcoming shaked moment.

Some technical data :

Modelled with Blender 2.49
Rendered with Octane
Initial image size 2000x1200
Rendering time : about 1h on a GTX480
Lighting : HDR map
About 3.75 million polys and 450Mb of texture maps

woow… looks pretty realistic…
are the trees in the BG modeled or an image? can you upload one clay render too

Very impressive. I keep telling myself that GPU based rendering has inaccuracies, but I just can’t seem to find any in most of the images. Great job. A wireframe would be awesome!

Only suggestion would be to give it a warmer colour. If you use the cloudy white balance in a camera while taking a picture like this, it would be slightly warmer.

Here’s my interpretation of a stormy afternoon. 5 minute editing with Paint.Net. Of course, no offense meant to your original image, I think it looks great. This is just an alternative. Feel free to reject it :).

I love this.

Realistic indeed! Grass looks awsome.

Good work. Impressive to see Octane really get its act together.
I can hardly get it to work with very minimalistic scenes without crashing on my 9800GT.
4 stars.

nice texturing and sky!

Amazing, it’s look real. It’s all done with CG?

Thanks to all for viewing,

I added a clay render.

@Sinosh:The background trees is an image indeed.

@Zanyman:Well, it was hard to get the right tone, it changes from one display to another, and yes I like the version you post

@Square:Except the background trees, everything is CG

Brilliant render, there. But somehow, the whole space feels empty (in the middle of nowhere-kinda)- lack of distant trees? The right side of the frame looks rather empty.

I like the atmosphere of the whole thing overall. And mighty fine stones there.

Hello!

I finally got the demo version of Octane working on my Mac but I can;t seem to open anything too complex - is that a limitation of the demo or could there be something else?

thnx,
rich

Great render. I like the clay render too. Can I ask for the lighting setup straight from the Blender 3d viewport?

I like ;).
And your version is better to me than the yellowish one of zanyman…
can I ask, where you got that trees from?
image and the 3d models in front. Cause I’m trying to get a similar background…
Thx

cheers

Bravo. I love it.

impressive!

Brilliantly Executed. Stunning Image!

amazing and in only 1h. that’s awesome. yoiu should go into arch viz.

wow… this is awesome!

How complex a model you can open depends on how much RAM your graphics card has (not how much your computer has). So if you have only 64MB of VRAM, you will only be able to open files with less than 64MB of textures. Same thing with polygons.
