Strange DOF defocus artifacts


I’m playing with DOF and the Defocus node, but I’m getting some strange artifacts, and I’m really not sure why. It’s probably something simple, but I just feel like I’ve tried all possible settings - I’m really staring myself blind here. Can someone please help me a little? :slight_smile:

Vector blur and DOF in Blender suffer the same problem. They generally produce crappy results if you only use one node, especially if you are used to the nicer quality that After Effects produces. And as you have discovered, you can change parameters all day and not get what you want.
