strange effect with smooth shading

Hey guys, Im having trouble when today I was modeling my car, and activated the smooth shading. the car at a particular area got all smashed up it looks like it got in an accident or something haha…
Do you know how I can correct this? What am I doing wrong?
Im posting the pictures after and before the smooth shading and one with the subdivision surface plus the smooth shading…


Try ctrl + n to recalculate normals.
