Strange Problem

(Van Halen Man) #1

Ok, I am making, or TRYING to make a game called Ninja Penguin, who is a character that I decided to make power point animations with when I was in 7th grade. And now I decided that I would make a game with NJP (Ninja Penguin). So I have him modeled how I want and I added armature and assigned vertex groups and what not, and I move the arm armatures down so that I can start animating him, and everything looks fine then i press P and everything looks like the picture, can anybody tell me…WHY??! Thank you for your help.

well, its hard to say from the picture… a blend would be better.

Guessing: It may be that not all the verts are assigned to the armature and therefore, some are staying in place while others are move?

Try turning envelopes of on the armatures panel, they work in the editor but not when you are running a game.:stuck_out_tongue: If you turn off envelopes you will need to modify the weight painting a bit to fix up the unpainted verts

Well, unfortunately I don’t know anything about weight painting, but I suppose I could look for a tutorial about it, or if you know of a good one, please link me there.

I would suggest that you turn envelopes off (down near the bottom of the edit panel) and then re-paint the weights. If you dont know about weight painting go here:

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Weight_Paint

hope it helps :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, I read the tut, but I am still unsure about where to paint heavier and where to paint lighter. Or in other words, what should be heavy and what should be light.

EDIT: Could you show me an example of weight painting with the .blend file that I posted and then upload it so that I could take a look?
