Stretch-To bone constraint isn't stretching far enough

Hi all,
Working on rigging door actuators for a car. The top and bottom are rigid parts, but the center section stretches as the door opens. I used 3 bones, top and bottom bone both track-to each other’s anchor points. Center bone is a child of the bottom bone and should stretch-to the top bone.

Door closed (rest position)

Door fully opened (max movement)

And a Blender 4.2 file showing the problem (just playback animation)
stretch_to.blend (1.4 MB)

Wondering why the bone isn’t stretching far enough…

Thanks for any help,
Randy

PS - what happened to the side by side image comparison? I thought it used to be an icon in the header

Do you want it to stretch to the head or tail of the other bone?

Try setting it to Tail (slide to 1.0) and then resetting the Original Length (x button).

Now, you can slide it back to Head, if you want.

Yes, that was it. I hadn’t set it to the tail, which is what I wanted, but left it set to the default head setting. My rigging skills are a bit rusty…

Thanks for taking the time to look at my problem.

Randy
