Stupid City People

During the heavy snowfalls, the city people decided that they wouldn’t remove the snow, just pile it up along the sides of the streets… Brilliant! Snow was piled upwards of 4 feet high on all sides, and today it started melting. So now, the city’s turning into one giant puddle, and there’s still lots of snow left to melt… Pretty soon I’ll have to wade to school…

:o 4 feet of snow :o

Wow, I never have seen that much except for on TV. I live in a place where if there is a chance that ice could stick to the roads they cancel everything and people go into storm bunkers to await the apocolypse. 1 inch of snow is enough to basically paralyze everything in my neck of the woods.

That’s 4 feet after they piled it up on the sides of the roads, not before (in case that’s what you thought I meant). You’d think that during excess snowfall that they’d actually remove the snow, but no, they pile it up and let it melt… And tomorrow’s supposed to be below freezing out, so the city’s gonna be one giant ice rink… I won’t get to wade to school, but at least I’ll be able to skate!

Is that stupid-city people or stupid city-people?

Isn’t that what they always do? In all my life I’ve never seen snow ‘removed’ they always just use a snowplow to shove it off to the side of the road.

How would you remove so much snow? Load it up in trucks and dump it in the ocean?

I guess I don’t understand what you mean…

4 feet is a lot, but it’s not anymore snow than what was there before, they just moved it to the side. If your city regularly gets snow/rainfall, the drainage system should be equiped to handle the melting snow without major flooding. Until then, just drink cocoa and build snowmen :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a finite amount of snow you can pile on the side of the roads. And yes, they use trucks to pick it up. However, they don’t drop it in the ocean, they just pile it up somewhere else.

A little from column A and a little from column B.

OK, if you say so. I’ve never seen that before, but then again in never snows much here. You probably know better than I do.

It just seems like it would take a lot of truckfulls to make any difference.

look at teh bright side, now you have a venice like city for valentine’s day, all you need now is gondola, an italian opera singer, a bottle of champagne, oh and don’t forget the girl (it’s realy not a good idea to share a bottle of champagne with an italian opera singer).

Piling snow up isn’t as stupid as it sounds… at least if I remember my physics right!

If you pile it up, it melts slower…

That may be true, but if there’s a lot of it, and it starts to melt, and freezes again (It’s around -7 C right now), then it’s gonna be hell for us pedestrians, and those terrible drivers.

Winters in Estonia can sometimes mean snowstorms at -15C or -20C and 2-meter piles of snow everywhere, but I love it. And it always makes me laugh when some American says that everything is terrible and screwed up at -5C and 10cm of snow. So you Americanos aren’t perfect after all. I bet I can beat you in a game of stealth snow wars anytime

Shh… that’s my ego talking…

I’m mad because the snow’s starting to melt here, but we’re a small town so the snow pile problem isnt bad.

We had a couple of -15 to -25 degrees Farenheit weeks that were a pain.

But right now i’ve got ice dams forming on my roof causing water to pour into my house :frowning:

By the way, i’m an american and where i live, we dont freak out unless it’s more than a foot and a half from the storm, otherwise life continues like normal.

We’re all out of snowdays if that gives you an idea.

(sorry for the stupid measuring system, i cant help it)

There’s nothing like living in a tropical country! The same weather all the year.

danm 4 feet of snow on the sides of the road ur freaking lucky try delivering the paper -50 celcius without windchill and about 1 foot of powdered snow everywhere.

I bet I can beat you in a game of stealth snow wars anytime

geez i bet ur not even in mine and my buddies league yet with stealth snow wars.
… oohhh how i want to move somewhere warm.(and where u can see the sun in the winter)

Just takes an inch of snow, and the UK comes to a standstill…
