Stupid product study

Ho,

here’s a stupid study on the outside design of a 19" Audio analyzer unit… 5 hours or so so far, so don’t expect too much

Looks kinda like my dad’s lol.

I don’t see why you say it’s stupid, it’s actually pretty good.

nice, a little dark, but realistic and well done. What will you do with it? It is a WIP.

blade: Maybe i practice myself a bit in modesty, unlike most of the time, where I’m just a bit too arrogant

SamAdam: Well. In fact, I always wanted to construct and offer a generic stereo analyzer as a 19" Hardware unit, but that was years ago. Nowadays, recording studios are more and more converted into software inside computers, so the need for such a device has pretty much disappeared, so I doubt it would sell very well anymore.

Maybe this is just a last cry for a lost dream

Why are there shadows for the buttons on the analyzer itself but not on the table??

Nice work.

nice, but you need to make a spec map for the text, to make it more glossy and stand out a bit more. this could go for photorealism if you wanted to spend that bit extra time…

Yeah, a spec and Nor map for the text is definitely a good idea

Will try that out…

block01cube: uhm, I guess because of the angle the light is coming in?

intrr,

I also have done some product renderings. Good work!
Black anodized, brushed aluminum is a pain! What was your method?

Also, I couldn’t get my silscreen to work properly with Yafray render… how did you go about applying your silkscreen?

Well, I only used Blender’s internal renderer, and the material for the aluminum is very simple, just a dark-greyish color and a scaled-down normap at 0.6 is all there’s to it… interesting that it works so well

I don’t exactly know what silkscreen means, I guess you mean the “print” on the front panel? That’s like this:

Cool! I’ll try it!

Are you using 2.22 or something like that?

blade: it’s probably his custom version of blender, instinctive blender.

Cheers,

Sounds like a nice tutorial idea to me. Trust me, there are a lot of blank-looks out there right now in spare bedrooms around the world %| when you say things like “a scaled down normap at 0.6.” Materials are a voodoo science.

“What fools these mortals be!”
“I’ll say! They’ve got computers!”
