Stupid Reflections

Yup…

How can I make the "Light"saber part of it reflect?

and

How can I make the "Light"saber part of it actually emit light?

Edit: Just so you know… the light part of the saber is just a line, super subdivised with a halo.

Wow… that didnt help at all. No offense but… did you even read my post?

edit : also, yafray isnt rendering the halo’ed line

You said nothing about Yafray. It doesn’t render halos.

I read your post and pointed you to one that was on the front page when you posted about lightsabers. They all seemed to manage fine with the instructions there and I simply thought it would be a good idea to go discuss it with others who are on the same subject.

Well, the question isnt about lightsabers… its about objects reflecting halos.

Obviously the render was done in blender internal (because it shows the halos). I just switched it to yafray to see how it would look.

So there is no way to show halos in yafray?

No (though using the search function of the forum will provide alternatives).

Halo are a post production effect, no real 3D effect. So no shadows, no reflections, no illumination …

or just look at some examples

http://www.katorlegaz.com/index.php?a=download&c=Blender_3D_Model_Repository

look under the section star wars on how they modeled the saber and see if that produces any reflections (haven’t tested it) or look under the light section and see how they get reflections.

reflections can be done the old way: environment maps

Great! I wasn’t aware of the order in which halos and env maps are rendered. Then one could probably fake shadows as well …
