Here’s my entry for the Stylised Animal Comp (this month: Dragons)… unusually for me i didn’t do much concept art beforehand - i just dived straight into modelling. Which might explain why im not completely happy with the model so far… I probably need to go back to the concept stage in order to get a better idea of what i want to achieve. What do you think?
that’s pretty cool, is that a tongue sticking out or is that going to be his mouth?
shape is adorable, will you be ding realistic materials or more of a cartoony look?
Thanks for the replies!
@melbot: Yup - thats his tongue. I really need to define it more.
@dreamsgate: thanks
yeah my texturing skills aren’t great, but i did think of doing a more realistic look to contrast with his cartoon shape.
I’ll keep you guys posted! I’m about to play around with some sculpting…
Dude I am glad you are a blender user too. I have also joined that comp, since recently there was a lot of talk from the more experienced users here telling everyone that they produce crap and that the noobs bring blenders image down, and that before asking what blender can do for us, what we can do for blender should be asked. meaning get some higher quality work out.
So I took up their challenge to improve my skills, on a purely personal level, and what do you know, I am crap. Here is my WIP for it here

And the one at 3d total

I noticed your one over there before seeing your thread here because I thought it was quite a stylized looking character to start with. Very ‘anime’ in dimensions. I currently live in Japan, so I know a lot of anime as it is in front of me everyday, though I am a fellow brissie boy my self. Not far from the QE2 hospital. I would like to stay with you on this one. Keep up the work, you are on a good start. Now for some Bundy:cool:
