Stylised low poly animation

So, I’m playing with a semi-serious project at the moment. I plan to animate a short fairy-tale in a low-poly style using a stylised look and only openGL or BI rendering, mostly straight from the viewport.

Now, although I’ve been using Blender for a long time, I’ve not tried something like this before. I was inspired by the short film ‘Glass Half’ https://cloud.blender.org/p/glass-half/ which was rendered entirely in the viewport. I’m going to need some reflections and other effects that will probably rule that out, and I’ll need to do some ‘proper’ renders using BI. Why? Because that’s what I want to do. I have nothing against using Cycles, I just want to see what I can do when a single frame render takes a second instead of 5 minutes.

I’m gathering lots of inspiration and experimenting with environmental effects I know I’ll need, like an ocean:

Everything is placeholder in that sequence - the sky was grabbed from Google. I’ll be modelling everything using low poly techniques, sculpting and decimating where necessary.

This is a ‘vanity’ project, so it might stay as a concept with only a few key scenes finalised but I’m hoping it will be bought along the way and produced in full.

We’ll see.
