im trying to subdivide a face, but it mess around the faces around him.
any way to subdivide a face without having an effect on surrounding faces?

Blender currently can only handle faces with 3 or 4 edges. If you split an edge, blender has to create these additional triangles to overcome this limitation.
If you want to not have this, try a bmesh experimental version of blender from www.graphicall.org
