subdividing a sphere

I’m modeling the interior of an eye from a UV sphere.

Here’s a render with 2 subdividions.
Is it normal for the faces to be so harsh? The character I’m working smooths out pretty well with only 2 subd’s; I don’t see all those facets.

I have to smooth the sphere with 5 subd’s in order to get decent results.

I think I’m doing something wrong.


Did you use Set Smooth?

I wonder how the rest of the character managed to be smooth without “Set Smooth”, though :slight_smile:
