The spinning grey thing! Out of so many different ways to create the effect, I chose a two-bone armature. It drives a grey circle mesh with 24 segments (24 frames per second). I calculated the weights for the outside vertices of the circle, my intent being to rotate the thing open (like a fan). As it turned out, this only works for 180 degrees. So then I added another bone that slides in a mask (in one frame), thus enabling me to rotate the root bone the rest of the 180 degrees, completing the effect. I made all the type in Gimp. Put it all together in Blender’s compositor. Added even more type in the sequencer along with grunge and sound.
