Subtracted boolean materials on my object

Is there a way to not make my subtracted materials applied on my object?

You can apply the same material to your subtraction object. Or apply the modifier and then edit the material in the resulting mesh.
If you don’t want to apply the modifier, make a copy of your subtraction object and apply the material, then you parent it to your main object use it as your boolean operator, and hide it.

There’s no easy way around it huh? Haha, thanks! They should come up with a button or check box for this

Yes, but for now, there is no one, sadly.

Or just use Blender 2.8- this Boolean material behavior is new

@Ivan1

Or use Geonodes where you have complete control over material assignment?
