Whuddya think? rendered in Blender internal with AO, no composite (haven’t got round to sorting out the nodes yet as it’s taking ages to render at full res) but I have done the street and mountains as 2 passes with alpha and recombined them in Photoshop.

Pointers? one thing I could use suggestions with is how to illuminate the detail on the mountains without losing the 5am look.

I would do 2 different render layers, one with special lighting for the mountains and the other for the houses.

it is a bit of extra work, but then you will have total control over the foreground and the background.
