Suffering / Joy & Hope / Despair

Hey everyone,

These two pieces / this piece are / is about the experience and reality of feeling as a human being. All emotions linked, all the time–not “no joy without sadness, no hope without despair” but “joy with suffering, hope with despair.” Being as a human being. Acceptance of this being and its manifestations.

These subjects are very important to me–a lot of effort has gone into the conceptualization and execution of this these piece pieces.

They are abstractions.

They are abstractions.

Oh yes they most certainly are… I don’t fully understand them but they look nice. Oh well, art is as they say in the eyes of the beholder.

The Suffering/Joy image is excellent. Very realistic lighting.
While everyone may not “get” abstract images (and that’s OK) … it’s still a good thing that they are being attempted. It only helps expand Blender’s scope beyond the purely representational.

Good work.

hmm… i dont particularry see the emotions in the image, and it bugs me a bit that the object is 100% the same on both.

colors on the first one are nice.

Interesting, I like the object. I’m not sure about the surface material on the plane though. It’s sort of nondescript. I find myself wondering, is it paint? Is it an industrial type finish? poly urethane maybe? Perhaps it would benefit from a real material like stone or wood.

EnderWiggin: Thanks :). I agree, everyone has a different perspective on art.

Samir: Thanks a lot. I’m drawn to abstract things in general (writing music etc) so expect more abstract from me ;).

basse: Thank you. Though the two shapes are not exactly the same ;). One is subsurfed and set smooth, the other is not subsurfed and set solid.

Modron: Thanks. You’re right, a real material would probably go really well here. The background, however, is intentionally nondescript.

Thinking abstract: the first one is “the skull of the crocodile that ate my mother” and the second “the opal that lured the whiteman to Coober Pedi”.

I love the Hope / Despair; the lighting rules! I’ve always liked abstract. It’s good to see that some people are still doing it in 3D!

Fligh %: ROFLMAO!!!

Dracarys: Thanks. I’ve also always liked abstract. I think 3d is a great medium for it.

Thought-provoking work block01cube. Still trying to understand the difference between “without” and “with”. Keep up the good work.

I love it! You really looked inside your mind for this one. What sparked this concept block01cube? It’s almost like a point in space or time or maybe something at it’s beginning. It is an emotional piece for sure. Good work.

I enjoyed the renders. Make me wanna go and hurt myself :< . Good job.

GCat: Thanks a lot :). I’m convinced that the understanding of something like with or without can be a lifelong journey.

JA-forreal: Thank you very much. There’s never a defnite something that sparks these things in me, but you’re right that it’s an emotional piece. I find I can stretch my thinking the most through abstractions.

binarybndit: Thanks. I hope you don’t hurt yourself.
